Lelanie Fourie, Sensory Integration Specialist, BSc(Hons)OT

I have been working in the field of Paediatric Occupational Therapy since 2002. I completed a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy degree at the University of the Orange Free State (RSA): School of Health Sciences, Faculty of Occupational Therapy in 1999. Since then I worked in adult physical and mental health settings before working in the field of Paediatric Occupational Therapy.

I hold post-graduate qualifications in Sensory Integration from the Sensory Integration Network UK & Ireland. I am also a qualified teacher of English as a foreign language and have completed the CELTA course successfully.

I have worked for the Royal Free Hampstead NHS trust for five years where I have worked in mainstream nursery, primary and secondary settings with children with learning disorders and motor disorders such as Cerebral Palsy. My experience there also includes working at special schools working with children with moderate and severe learning difficulties and hearing impaired children, and a specialist assessment clinic. Besides carrying out assessments and delivering treatment, I have worked closely with schools and families to provide advice and consultation in the school and home setting. Since April 2007 I have been working in the Private Sector where I have been specialising in Sensory Integration. My clinical interests are sensory integration difficulties, autistic spectrum disorder and motor co-ordination difficulties. I also specialize in working with children with handwriting difficulties and specific learning difficulties in the school setting.

Carole Sachs, BSC (Hons), MRCSLT, MHPC

I qualified as a speech and language therapist in 1999 with a BSc (Hons) from City University.

In addition to working at Hopscotch and in private practice, I work part-time as a Speech and Language Therapist at Naima JPS School and The Royal School, both in London Previously I was employed as head of special needs at St Christopher’s School in Hampstead, NW3 which is a girl’s independent school for primary school-age children. I also worked with individual paediatric clients at the private practice of a consultant language therapist.

My experience covers a wide range of communication difficulties and I run communication skills groups for primary and secondary-age children. These address social skills, speech and phonology and other language issues.

I am a member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists and am chairman of the North London Group of Therapists in Private Practice. In addition I have a BA (Hons) from Sussex University in French and European studies and bi-lingual in French and English.
